Bathroom Renovation Project

In most cases, owners want to renovate a bathroom due to the age, and they just want to renew the look and make it up to date. However, in this case, the homeowner needed to redo his bathroom due to the poorly done, bathroom renovation, by a previous homeowner. Of course, it led to water damage. It is not always a good thing when you have unexpected spending, but unfortunately, it happens to many homeowners in Washington State.

General Details

Most TV shows and design journals give the homeowner false hope when it comes to DIY and Remodeling, saying it is an easy job to accomplish. Even DIYers themselves try to do the work and really enjoy the finished results of it, but it leads to Water damage, electrical problems, and even foundation problems due to lack of experience in the field.

The shower pan was leaking

Whoever installed the shower pan on this project had no idea what they were doing. I assume they had to watch some DIY YouTube videos to understand the process. Here are some pictures of what we uncovered during the shower pan problem investigation.

Wall and Floor tiles

Tile, style, and colors should fit the rest of the house to keep the same feeling throughout the house. In this case, we decided to go with the large format tile AMALFI VEIN CUT 12″ x 24″ GRIGIO Surface Art. To keep that modern look of the bathroom, the tile was laid in a horizontal straight-set pattern. On the side shower wall, you can see a double Niche in 12″ x 24″.

Baseboard Tile in bathroom

For the baseboard, we used the same tile as for walls and floors, but we cut it to the 4″ x 24″ pieces and continued the grout line, horizontally, throughout the shower and bathtub surround. As well as grout lines on the floor lined up perfectly with the grout lines on the walls to give the bathroom a Custom Look.

Freestanding bathtub

Replacing a built-in bathtub with a 71″ x 32″ Freestanding Soaking Acrylic Bathtub. As well as the WOODBRIDGE Contemporary Single Handle Floor Mount Freestanding Tub Filler Faucet with Hand Shower. Those pieces changed the look of the entire bathroom.

Vanity and Countertops

The good thing the vanity and the top with 2 sinks and fixtures are original. We did not have to redo them as a part of a project. I am assuming it was manufactured and installed not by the same contractor that did tile work in there 😊.

Painting in a bathroom

Lastly, we repainted the bathroom to refresh its look. I always say that the paint itself takes on a significant role in bathroom remodeling projects. Of course, the owner can save some money and paint the bathroom themselves. Unfortunately, in the end, all the expensive work would carry a look of a DIY project. The paint job will never be the same as that of a professional painter. Nice straight lines and all the patching around a window is done to give the bathroom a look of perfection.
